As the onion export season draws to a close, the pace seems to be slowing down. The export figure for week 21 clearly shows this.
The provisional export figure for onions in week 21 is 14.292 tons. That is the smallest volume of 2022 exported in one week. In the coming weeks it will become clear by how many kilos this figure will be adjusted. The publication of the latest onion export figures shows that the information received by post can be quite significant. Over the period week 5 to week 20, this involved a volume of 3.526 tonnes, which turned out to be by far the largest item.
Lead is increasing
The cumulative export result now stands at 1.218.614 tons, giving a weekly average of 26.491 tons. The lead compared to last season has increased further and now amounts to 81.762 tons. Converted to the weekly average, this means a period of more than three weeks. In week 20 the lead was 78.824 tons.
Ivory Coast is hot on the heels of Senegal
In week 21 there were three destinations to which more than 1.000 tons of Dutch onions went. Ukraine took second place with 2.074 tons. Cumulatively, Ukraine has purchased 6.867 tons of onions this season. Great Britain topped the list of largest buyers with 2.186 tonnes, increasing the total export figure to 131.988 tonnes. The top 3 ended with Ivory Coast, which purchased 1.213 tons of onions and now has a total of 171.008 tons, closing in on Senegal, which purchased 175.698 tons of onions this season. In total, customers in 72 countries were supplied with Dutch onions.{{dataviewSnapshot(2_1655360725)}}
