Ukrainians love Dutch onions

Because the export figures of onions are three weeks behind the reality, there may be a feeling of a difference between the mood of the current market and the cumulative figures available.

Anyone who compares the demand for onions in week 39 with the export result achieved this season (figures up to and including week 36) may just get the feeling: hmmm, this is correct. However, the figures show that in the period weeks 27 to 36, so many onions have not been exported since the 2022 harvest and the last record year (harvest 2021) is still behind. Compared to last week, the lead has shrunk by 2.188 tons and now stands at 24.396 tons.

In week 36 the provisional export result is 32.549 tons. The reporting on the export figures for weeks 34 and 35 has been adjusted upwards by 53 tonnes. This brings this season's cumulative export result to 245.786 tonnes, corresponding to a weekly average of 24.578 tonnes.

Quantities from 15 kilos to 931 tons
The export result of week 36 was boosted by demand from Senegal and Ivory Coast, which purchased 7.678 tons and 5.416 tons of onions. In total, buyers from nine countries bought more than 1.000 tons of onions. This involved a total of 24.206 tons. The rest was sold to buyers in 74 countries, with quantities ranging from 15 kilos to 931 tonnes.{{dataviewSnapshot(2_1664438023)}}

The list of 74 countries includes Ukraine, which now has a total of 1.165 tons, compared to 4 and 1 tons in previous years. In 2019 this was nil, in 2018 it was 0,15 tons and in 2017 it was 0,5 tons.
