The latest export figures for onions also give no reason for an onion market with a gut feeling. However, the lead compared to last season has shrunk.
The provisional export figures for onions exported in week 39 and the subsequent information from weeks 31 to 38 still show an excellent result. And this despite the fact that the day trade in onions is at a low level in terms of volume. The first indication of week 39 shows an export volume of 35.786 tons and the volume of subsequent information amounts to 754 tons. These figures provide a cumulative export result for this season of 355.356 tons, which means an average of 27.355 tons per week. While last week's figures put the lead compared to last season at 29.088 tonnes, the figures up to and including week 38 have fallen to 23.621 tonnes, a shrinkage of almost 19% and 2.227 tonnes less compared to the figures of week 37.
