The ex-country pool price for yellow seed onions is €24,86 per 100 kilos for the 2022 harvest year. The Apeldoorn cooperative has announced this. This surpasses the old record of the 2018 harvest year by €3,86. Onions were delivered from early August to October.
Long harvest period
The off-shore pool has no options for temporary storage. Due to the dry summer, the harvest of seed onions started relatively early, at the end of August. Due to a rainy period, the last onions from the field were finally delivered in October. Agrifirm says to be satisfied with the quality. It met the requirements. However, the hectare yields for many growers were lower than average.
Due to a shrunken area and lower yields in the Netherlands - and elsewhere in Europe - the market developed positively early on. In 2018 performed the pool achieved the best result since its founding in 2013. At that time, €21 per 100 kilos was paid out.
Stock market price higher
The result of the ex-land pool does not reach the average stock market price. Over the period August-October, the average stock market price for fine seed onions is €25,55 and that for large onions is €26,89. That means a total average of €26,22. That is €1,36 more than the result of the pool. Agrifirm members will still receive €1,50 per tonne of member benefits on the amount.
