The ex-field pool for yellow seed onions amounts to €26,31 per 100 kilos and that for red onions to €25,06 (with at least 60% coarse). This is the best result since the founding year of 2019. The harvest and delivery of the onions started at the end of July and continued until October. In addition to field delivery, batches of onions are also stored in short-term storage and delivered after harvest.

low tare
The running average of the field-grown pool of yellow onions amounts to €16,01 per 100 kilos. For red it is €17,64. Even though the growing season was far from optimal in most places, the tare percentages were relatively low. Parties that were nevertheless confronted with a defect were also given a good destination.

What played a role for the red onions was a lack of large onions. This was clearly noticeable in the market. Onion traders were sometimes not in the market at all for fine lots of red onions. PPA has therefore applied a bulk premium and discount to the red onion pool.

Above market price
The average stock market price for yellow onions (fine and coarse) is €25,90. The result of the PPA pool is therefore still €0,40 above that. The fine lots of red onions in particular had difficulty finding a buyer. That is why the stock exchanges recorded a price only once during the ex-country period. The stock exchange listing was only launched at the beginning of November.
