Onion exports have taken a significant step back in the last week of 2022. That comes as no surprise. Between Christmas and New Year's Eve, several sorters were at a standstill, which is reflected in the export figure.
In week 52, 17.888 tons of onions were exported, according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruithuis. That is a significant step back compared to week 51, when almost 32.000 tons of Dutch onions crossed the border. Smaller exports do not come as a surprise in the calm week between the holidays. A total of 27 tons of onions were exported in the period from week 52 to week 1.337 - with 764.378 tons of additional information provided. That is 6% less than the previous record season, but still a major export. Only twice before have more onions been exported. The weekly average this season now stands at 29.399 tons.
