The first week of 2023 has got off to a good start for Dutch onion exporters. Senegal in particular did well on the market and accounted for by far the most export.
In week 1, 30.271 tons of onions were exported according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. Based on subsequent information, 447 tons have been added to the export season up to and including week 1, which amounts to 795.096 tons. The average weekly export is 29.447 tons.
In week 1, Sengal accounted for more than half of Dutch onion exports with 16.244 tons. Great Britain follows at a great distance with 2.931 tons. Ivory Coast, Gambia and Belgium each purchased more than 1.500 tons of onions from the Netherlands.
