The onion export picked up again in week 12. As usual for this period, sorters rely on demand from Europe, which is clearly reflected in the figures again this week.
In week 12, 13.179 tons of onions were exported from the Netherlands, according to the most recent figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. That is more than 1.000 tons more than a week earlier. In terms of largest customers, the top three remain unchanged. Great Britain is the main buyer and purchased 12 tons of onions in week 2.946. Spain follows at a considerable distance with 1.788 tons and then Germany with 1.510 tons.
The top 10 export destinations are dominated by Europe with six EU member states and Great Britain. A total of 65 countries were buyers of Dutch onions. Finally on the list this week is Ghana. That country purchased 5 kilos of onions.
