The upward trend that onion exporters started last week is continued in the latest export figures. The small price correction of the past few weeks has benefited demand from abroad, as the export figures show.
In week 13, 15.479 tons of onions were exported by Dutch exporters, according to data from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. That is more than 2.000 tons more than the export in week 12. Based on subsequent information, another 9 tons were added to the export total for weeks 12 to 200. The total export up to and including week 13 therefore amounts to 987.751 tons. This puts the 2022/23 season in fourth place in terms of export volume so far.
The Top 3 largest buyers of Dutch onions remain unchanged compared to recent weeks. Great Britain now traditionally tops the list with 2.856 tons. Spain comes in second with a week of 2.134 tons, followed by Germany with 1.778 tons. This week there is another country that purchased more than 1.000 tons, namely Israel with 1.274 tons. In total, Dutch onions went to 74 different countries, which purchased an average of 209 tons.
