No records have been broken in onion exports in recent weeks. but when we look at the numbers there is little to complain about. In fact, 1 million tons have already been shipped this season. We've gotten used to that in recent years, but it's still quite an achievement.
In week 14, 14.000 tons of onions were exported by Dutch exporters, according to the most recent figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. That is almost 1.500 less than in week 13, but it is not surprising that exports weaken somewhat during this period.
The most important buyer of Dutch onions remains Great Britain, which stands head and shoulders above the rest in terms of sales of 3.149 tons. This is also followed by a well-known name, namely Spain; good for 1.942 tons this week. France has knocked Germany out of third place. With 1.311 tons, the French imported slightly more than the Germans, who imported 1.257 tons. These are also the four customers who purchased more than 1.000 tons per week. A very large part of the Dutch onions have remained in Europe. Guinea is the only non-European destination in the top 10.
