The onion exporters are not making any strange leaps. In the most recent figure, exports are about the same as a week earlier. It is mainly Europe that is leading the way.
In week 16, 13.400 tons of onions were exported, according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. That is almost the same as week 15. Based on subsequent information, another 400 tons have been added to the export total this season. This means that 2022 tons of onions were exported in the 23/1.028.755 season.
The top 3 largest customers are unchanged compared to recent weeks. Great Britain is proudly at the top with 3.377 tons. This is followed by Spain with 1.591 tonnes and Germany with 1.419 tonnes. These are also the only countries that purchased more than 1.000 per week. In total, onions went to 69 different countries, with Nigeria and Oman at the bottom of the list, each importing 5 kilos of onions from the Netherlands.
