Records are certainly not broken in the onion export, but the figures so far this season are certainly not disappointing. Even towards the end of the old harvest, we have so far remained above 10.000 tonnes per week.
In week 20, 13.385 tons of Dutch onions crossed the border according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. Although this is 3.000 tons less than in week 19, it still exceeds expectations. Week 20 was a short week because of Ascension Day.
The largest buyers of Dutch onions also remain unchanged compared to last week. Great Britain took the lead with 3.196 tons, followed at a considerable distance by Germany with 1.982 tons. The top 3 is completed with Poland, which purchased 1.146 tons of onions and are the only countries that purchased more than 1.000 tons in the week. With the exception of Guinea, the top 10 consists of purely European countries.
