A relatively good growing season and a flexible market do not currently go hand in hand in the carrot world. The question should be a little better and broader to lighten the mood.
The yields of the carrots that are harvested are generally good. Several flushers have sufficient hectares under contract and now that the kilos are under them and the demand is somewhat limited, they do not have to bribe the farmer. In fact, some of them have somewhat generous contracts and partly offer the carrot to fellow rinsers.
Quality
Delivering a quality product is essential for growers who want to do business now. Because there is sufficient carrot, flushers are critical of what they consume. They included parties that required a little more work last year, but now they are already thinking towards industry. "If there is really something wrong with it, it might be best to put the cutter in it," according to a trader.
It is difficult to give a realistic representation of the market. The spread in prices and quality is actually too great for beauty. For b-carrot, the DCA quotation this week is €20 to €28 per 100 kilos. That is a significant decrease compared to last week. The bottom of the quotation is approximately the level for the undersized c-peen. The DCA quotation c-peen has also taken a step back to €10 to €14 per 100 kilos.
