Dutch onion exports have so far excelled in a certain degree of stability. Whether or not you have a boat in Africa is reflected in the figures, but in any case no records are being broken. The biggest surprise of this week may be the adjustment of week 36, based on the information received.
In week 37, 25.873 tons of Dutch onions crossed the border, according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. A decent export week for this season, but nothing more than that. The adjustment of week 36 is more interesting in that respect. The 28.900 tons has been adjusted upwards to 30.551 tons. This means we have the first 30.000 of this season. A total of 37 tons have been exported this season up to and including week 224.569.
West Africa
Senegal is again the largest buyer of Dutch onions this week with 5.166 tons. That is a big step of more than 4.000 tons compared to a week earlier. Ivory Coast is pulling its weight and this week is reporting a weekly export of more than 5.000 tons for the first time this season, 5.070 to be precise. Great Britain lags behind in comparison, but completes the top three with 2.376 tons.
