This onion season was one of extremes in terms of growing conditions. This is anything but the case in exports. It ripples on a bit. Things are certainly not going badly if you look at the weekly exports, but it doesn't want to get really busy either.
In week 41, 28.999 tons of onions were exported from the Netherlands, according to the export figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. That is 2.500 tons less than last week. In total, exports so far this season amount to 350.108 tons.
Senegal is also proudly at the top in week 41 as the largest buyer of Dutch onions. The West African country accounted for 7.838 tons. In total, Senegal has imported almost 88.000 tons of onions from the Netherlands this season. This means that exports are more than 15.000 tons ahead of last season. After Senegal, Great Britain and Ivory Coast follow with 3.217 and 3.104 tonnes respectively.
