In week 44, 25.959 tons of onions were exported according to the latest figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. That is more than 3.500 tons more than in week 43. The export is therefore not really spectacular. For example, the five-year average for week 44 is 34.000 and last season more than 32.000 were executed in this week. Now the export figures are three weeks behind, and if we see what has happened recently, exports should pick up in the coming weeks.

Total exports so far in the current season stand at 423.656 tons. This means that exports are almost 20% behind last season. Ivory Coast is also the largest buyer this week, accounting for 4.824 tonnes. This is followed by Great Britain, which purchased 3.477 tons of onions. Indonesia is just behind in third place with 3.363 tons. A total of 78 countries imported Dutch onions.
