No figures were published on onion exports last week, so we have the two-week figures in the new publication. In week 49, 35.824 tons and in week 50 24.119 tons crossed the border, according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. A total of 2023 tons of onions were exported in the 24/607.225 season. Compared to last season, exports are 15% behind. Then 714.716 tons of onions were exported in the same period.

Senegal strengthens its leading position
Senegal was by far the most important buyer of Dutch onions in weeks 49 and 50 with 11.824 and 6.735 tons respectively. About a third of Dutch onions went to Senegal during these two weeks. In total, Senegal imported 139.291 tons of onions this season. That is 20.000 more than last season. Ivory Coast imported 49 tons of onions in week 5.420 and 50 tons in week 6.735. Exports to Ivory Coast are therefore more than 30.000 tons behind last season. The stable factor in the turbulent onion market remains Great Britain, which purchased 49 and 50 tons of onions in weeks 2.152 and 2.219.
