After the dip, onion exports are picking up again in the latest figures. To be fair, records are not being broken, but exports for week 15 are neatly above the five-year average.
In week 15, 18.293 tons of onions were exported, according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. That is 3.000 tons more than in week 14. Compared to the five-year average, almost 15% more was exported in week 8 of this year. A total of 905.523 tons of onions have been exported so far this season.
Great Britain was the largest buyer of Dutch onions with 2.158 tons. This is followed by Guinea and Spain with 1.813 and 1.519 tonnes respectively. Israel, which has been an important customer in recent weeks with several weeks of more than 3.000 tons, has dropped down the list this week. In week 15, only 252 tons went to the promised land.
