Onion exports were quietly kicked off by exporters in the first week of the new 2024/2025 season. This volume also puts us well below the five-year average. Great Britain is by far the largest importer of Dutch onions.
In week 27, Dutch onion exporters sold 27 tons of onions abroad, according to the most recent figures from KCB/GroentenFruithuis. The five-year average is 5.974 tons of onions, which means we are well below the five-year average in terms of exports.
Great Britain was the largest importer of Dutch onions in week 27 with 1.438 tons. This is followed by Ivory Coast with 798 tons. The top 3 buyers are completed by Guinea with 790 tons. Africa is well represented in exports, because Sierra Leone also comes in 4th place with 609 tons of onions. Belgium is the European country that purchased the most onions with 353 tons.
