In week 37, 37.135 tons of onions were exported, according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. This means that almost 10.000 tons more were exported than in the same week last year. The five-year average for week 37 is 34.301 tons. In total, 226.214 tons of onions were exported this season. The deficit that we still had last week compared to last season has now turned into a lead of 1.000 tons.

Senegal in the lead
Senegal imported 10.237 tons of onions from the Netherlands, making it by far the largest buyer. The onions on the ship for that country seem to be divided over weeks 36 and 37. Ivory Coast follows at a considerable distance with an equally unmistakable 4.049 tons. Great Britain imported 2.469 tons, closely followed by Nicaragua with 2.441 tons. In total, Dutch onions went to 83 different countries. Egypt is the last with an import of exactly 5 kilos of onions.
