Bankruptcy of FlevoTrade Onions BV has been averted. The provisional suspension of payment granted by the court on 10 September has been converted into a definitive suspension after the creditors' consultation of 18 December. FlevoTrade has one and a half years to meet its obligations to its creditors.
FlevoTrade Onions got into trouble after customers of the company (mainly from Africa) did not come through with the payments. "Among them was a large buyer who in the past was good for millions in turnover at FlevoTrade Onions," explains Jan Davids, administrator of FlevoTrade by telephone. "We have the commitment that a debtor will resume his payment to FlevoTrade at the end of February/March 2025." Once that money has come in, FlevoTrade can pay the debts to suppliers, among others. "Another possibility is that a new financier is found for FlevoTrade," Davids continues.
The sorting company, a sister company of FlevoTrade Onions, is still running. However, no onions are sorted for FlevoTrade Onions. The company has assignments as a contract sorter for fellow sorting companies and exporters. The company's vehicles also drive onions for third parties.
