Dutch onion exporters are still making progress in the first weeks of 2025. Exports may have taken a step back in week 3, but the start of the new year is not bad at all.
In week 3, 24.622 tons of onions were exported, according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. The five-year average for this week is 22.025 tons, but last year this week, slightly more was exported with 25.622 tons. In the first three weeks of the calendar year, 79.676 tons of onions have now been exported. That is the best start to a new year ever. Two old familiar countries in West Africa top the list of largest buyers in week 3. Ivory Coast is in first place with 4.547 tons followed by Senegal that imported 4.387 tons of onions from the Netherlands. Mauritania is in third place with 2.593 tons.
