In week 9, 21.334 tons of onions were exported, according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. In 2020, the export figure for week 9 came close to that with 21.334 tons. The last time more onions were exported was in 2014 with 24.512 tons. The five-year average for this week is 16.446 tons. A total of 961.620 tons have now been exported this season. This means that the gap with the 2020/21 season has been significantly closed. Last week, there was still a gap of 10.000 tons between the current season and the second best season ever. That has now been reduced to 2.000 tons.

In the breakdown by country, Israel stands out this week. With 2.917 tons, the country was the largest buyer of Dutch onions. Only in week 36 did Israel buy more onions this season. In second place is Ivory Coast with an import of 2.787 tons. Great Britain completes the export top 3 with 2.222 tons.
