You can't always throw a six. After a few excellent weeks, that also seems to be the case for onion exports. Nothing to get confused about, but the latest export figure is below the five-year average.
In week 18, 16.418 tons of onions were exported, according to the latest figures from KCB/GroentFruit Huis. The five-year average for this week is 17.130 tons and last year 17.592 tons of Dutch onions crossed the border. In the record season 2020/21, 15.778 tons were exported. In total, 1.132.251 tons have already been exported this season. This means that the current season is 40.000 tons behind the record season.
Great Britain is the largest buyer of Dutch onions with 2.052 tonnes. Spain is just behind with 2.023 tonnes. Germany completes the top 3 with the import of 1.679 tonnes of onions from the Netherlands. In total, the onions went to 68 different countries in week 18.
