Onion exporters did not complain about the demand for onions around mid-May, but the export figures show a slightly different picture. In week 20, 11.496 tons of Dutch onions crossed the border, according to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis. The five-year average for this week is 15.732 tons and last year this week 18.229 tons were still left. In total, 20 tons of onions have been exported this season up to and including week 1.157.699. This still makes this season the second best ever.

The largest customer for Dutch onions in week 20 was for a change not Great Britain but Ivory Coast with 1.797 tonnes. Great Britain is in second place with 1.630 tonnes. These were also the only destinations that purchased more than 1.000 tonnes. In third place on the export list this week is Germany, which was good for 673 tonnes of onions. With the exception of Ivory Coast, the top 10 this week consists entirely of European destinations.
