The red onion pool of Krijger-JWK has been around for four years now. The average pool price for the 2024 harvest has yielded an above-average result. The pool is a collaboration between commission agent Krijger Uienhandel and sorter Wiskerke Onions.
Krijger-JWK announced the results of the red onion pool for harvest year 2024 last week. The average payout price was €48,61 per 100 kilos. The prices varied from €43,44 for the fine batches to €52,36 for the coarse ones. All costs have already been deducted from the pool result. The red onion pool has been in existence for four years now and the average price over those years is €45,43.
The season had a quiet start. Normally, the pool starts selling red onions in December. This year, the quality was so good that sales only started at the end of January. By then, the market price was already rising. When the €50 limit was reached, sales accelerated, which contributed to the strong final result.
