Simonions has announced the results of the pool for yellow seed onions of the 2024 harvest. The good onions at the end of the season have made the difference.
The payout price for week 12 is €25,10 per 100 kilos. This price excludes the Global Gap compensation of €0,10 per 100 kilos. "It was a difficult year in terms of quality," says Jaap Simonse of Simonions. "Prices remained relatively low until March, but the season had a surprising ending. The pool was still able to profit considerably from that strong price increase at the end. This was partly due to the good quality of the onions that the pool still had available at the end of the season."
The Simonions pool has been running for seven seasons now. Over the seven seasons, the average onion price for delivery in week 12 is €28,89 per 100 kilos. The pool mainly contains onions from the clay areas of Flevoland, Friesland and Groningen. Simonions also has a pool for yellow onions for the coming season.
