Dutch onion exporters significantly increased their pace in week 31. As a result, the export figure for that week exceeded the five-year average for the first time this season.
According to figures from KCB/GroentenFruit Huis, Dutch onion exports in week 31 totaled 23.911 tons. This is 10,7% higher than the five-year average for week 31, which stood at 21.594 tons. A total of 70.535 tons of Dutch onions have already crossed the border this season, an increase of approximately 7,5% compared to last season, or an increase of almost 5.000 tons.
Ivory Coast was the largest buyer of Dutch onions in week 4.413, with 31 tons. It was followed by Great Britain with 2.532 tons and Mali with 2.018 tons. In week 31, more than six countries imported more than 1.000 tons of onions from the Netherlands.
