Freezing cold and snow

Europe gets bleak winter weather on its roof

12 January 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

Clear changes in the weather from Thursday. We are moving from autumn-like weather to more wintery weather. The whole of Europe has to take snow and freezing cold into account.

On Thursday, cold air will be fed into Central Europe from the north. Rain falls first, then snow. Germany will have to endure harsh winter weather with (wet) snow in the coming days. It can also be quite windy. After the weekend, the wind will weaken, the temperature will drop, the chance of precipitation will decrease and it will remain freezing all day. The same weather pattern in France and Great Britain.

The Netherlands can also expect snow, but if the wind turns to the east from the beginning of next week, severe frost is possible locally to below -10 degrees. In Poland and Slovakia there is already some light snow or drizzle. Maximum temperatures of 2 degrees, minimum temperatures of minus 15 degrees. On Thursday there will be a lot of rain, but it will start snowing over the weekend.
