Calculation PBL

Left-wing parties want to reduce livestock

The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) presented the analysis of the effects of election programs for 2017-2021. This shows that the PvdA, SP, D66, GroenLinks and the ChristenUnie want to reduce the livestock. VVD and the Vrijschijn Party want to leave the livestock as it is.

The PBL has been asked by the VVD, PvdA, SP, D66, ChristenUnie, GroenLinks and Vrijschijn Partij to analyze their packages of measures. The planning office has mapped out both the effects on society and the financial effects.

VVD least influence on agriculture

The analysis shows that the VVD's plans have the least impact on agriculture. On the other hand, it appears that the plans of the VVD will not reduce greenhouse gases from agriculture and that ammonia emissions will hardly decrease until 2030.

It is mainly the left-wing parties that are in favor of a shrinkage in the livestock. The degree of shrinkage and who bears the burden of the proposal vary. GroenLinks sees the livestock decline the most with its plans. They are going for 40 percent fewer pigs, 30 percent less dairy cattle and 15 percent less poultry. PvdA and SP want 2030 percent fewer pigs, cows and poultry by 66. DXNUMX has a quarter fewer pigs and cows in its plans. With these plans, manure sales will decrease significantly. VVD and the liberal party leave the livestock as it is in their plans.

Incidentally, the ChristenUnie is consciously aiming for a smaller livestock in order to safeguard the derogation, also for the coming years. According to a spokesperson for the ChristenUnie, the calculation by the CBL, which assumes a 10 percent shrinkage of the livestock, has been calculated too broadly. A

Mono-fermentation is also on the agenda of a number of parties. The amounts linked to this differ per party. ChristenUnie is at the top of the list with an annual expenditure of 840 million euros. PvdA budgets an amount of 100 million euros and in the plans of VVD we see a one-off amount of 150 million euros.

And so Van Dam is laying the last bomb with his POR scheme to be introduced within the Phosphate Reduction Scheme for dairy farming in the interest of "maintaining the Derogation".
Let Agriculture make its choice and not, like last time, allow itself to be used by the VVD to ensure that the PvdA and SP did not become too big. Now they play that game again VVD and PVV. Agriculture Pay close attention to where our interests lie!
