Dozens of farmers may have cheated with fertilizer usage standards. On Thursday, the police, in collaboration with the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), carried out a house search in the Frisian Tietjerksteradeel.
A 56-year-old resident of this village is suspected of providing farmers with false tickets for transporting manure. The investigation, which is in the hands of the environmental team of the police, goes back to the years 2014 and 2015. The person in question is also suspected of writing false invoices.
The dozens of farmers involved in the study will all be subject to additional assessments. The case came to light when dozens of farmers had their manure accounts not in order.
As part of this investigation, house searches were also carried out on 25 January in the municipalities of Littenseradiel and Súdwest-Fryslân. The suspect presumably played a directing role in committing fraud with regard to fictitious land use and fictitious manure disposal. During this search, several computers and papers were seized.
