Budget plans for 2018 show that the White House Office of Management and Budgets wants to significantly cut the funding that the US Department of Agriculture collects from USDA annually. It concerns a discount of 4,7 billion dollars. Converted approximately 4,37 billion euros. This leaves nearly $18 billion in government budget.
The $4,7 billion cut accounts for 21 percent of the total USDA budget. That concludes The Washington Post after getting its hands on the blueprints for Trump's spending plan. The program falls under 'discretionary expenditure' discounts. Food safety, rural development, nature conservation, research subsidies and international development aid are being cut in their financial support, among other things.
The Trump administration is cutting money spent on a "clean water program" and measures to combat wastewater. That should bring in $500 million. A service that creates jobs in rural areas must also believe in it. That brings in $95 million. The budget document states that the private financial sector or other government services must deal with these matters.
The Ministry of Agriculture itself must downsize. Priority is given to food issues such as increasing productivity, sustainability, food safety and proper nutrition. People within the ministry are also fired at several locations for this. It is not yet known how many people are involved.
