Tjeerd de Groot is stepping down as director of the Dutch Dairy Organization (NZO). He takes a seat in the House of Representatives for D66.

De Groot was in 19th place on the D66 electoral list, just enough for one seat. He was sworn in as a member of the House of Representatives on Thursday. Oscar Meuffels will take over his duties at the NZO for the time being. The board is looking for a permanent successor.

Minister of Food
In the House of Representatives, the former NZO leader wants to focus on the prevention of obesity and more sustainable food production. The Great writes on the website of D66 It's time for a green revolution. De Groot would like a minister of food instead of a minister of agriculture.

Bridging the gap between city and countryside
In Boerenbusiness TV Politics, he defended the image of D66 as a city party. De Groot would like to bridge the gap between the city and agriculture. He also wants to commit to more innovative agriculture.
