300 members of LTO Nederland urge the agricultural spokespersons of VVD, CDA, D66 and GroenLinks for a Ministry of Food and Landscape. The request is the result of a member campaign.
The farmers want more "common sense" in The Hague. They have collected 300 letters from the members and handed this collection over to the agricultural spokespersons on Tuesday, 11 April 2017, at the Binnenhof.
Ministry is needed
The farmers believe that a separate ministry is desperately needed, because the items food production and landscape management are so important to Dutch society that a separate minister is necessary. 'The agricultural sector is a global leader in innovations such as precision farming', writes fruit grower Wessel van Olst from Ressen in Gelderland. He offers the bundled letters on Tuesday, on behalf of the 300 LTO members.
Earlier on argued Rien Nagel, member of the board of Rabobank, in an interview of Boerenbusiness also for a Minister of Food and Landscape.
