Now that the pro-European Emmanuel Macron has emerged as the election winner, he can begin his reform plans. The priority lies with public finances and business. He also wants to change agriculture.
The youngest president France ever had, as a former economy minister, has a clear plan of action: reform the French economy. Among other things, he wants to reduce the budget deficit and tackle unemployment. To make companies more competitive, he plans to simplify the tax system and gradually reduce corporate tax rates.
Restore value of agricultural products
The crisis in agriculture also has his attention. Half of the farmers earn less than 350 euros a month and bankruptcies are increasing. Macron says he wants to restore the value of agricultural products.
With 5 billion euros in 5 years, he wants to modernize the companies. This has a positive impact on the environment and with the development of sustainable forms of agriculture. The position of French agriculture and the future CAP will also be on the agenda this summer. In terms of energy, one of his plans is to close the coal plants and double the capacity of solar and wind power.
