The German BASF and the Swiss Syngenta have signed up for various parts that Bayer and Monsanto have to sell. This was reported by Bloomberg news agency on Monday, June 12.
Industry partner Bayer and seed trader Monsanto have to give up several divisions before they can get the green light for their merger.
Conversations still at an early stage
In total, this concerns 2,5 to 3 billion dollars in assets, including the seed division for garlic and pepper and a unit that produces cotton seed. The talks about the acquisition of the various parts are still at an early stage.
Bayer still expects that the acquisition of Monsanto will be completed this year. The German company will pay more than $66 billion for the acquisition of the American company.
