Three department chairmen stay on at LTO

June 15, 2017 - Clarisse van der Woude

The first 4 department chairmen of LTO Nederland have been appointed. Only 1 department chair is new, the other 3 were already chair. The newest chairman comes from the agricultural world.

This spring there was still grumble about the administrative changes that the new chairman Marc Calon wants to introduce. There was fear that the new department chairmen would not necessarily have to be agricultural entrepreneurs. Another pain point is that the incumbent chairmen had to reapply for their position, with a confidential committee making the appointment. As a result, members have less say.

Presidents fit in the renewed LTO Netherlands

3 out of 4 stay at their post
Thursday, June 15, it was announced that 3 of the 4 will remain in their positions. Jaap van Wenum (46) from Kootwijkerbroek emerged from the process as the most suitable chairman for the arable farming department. Van Wenum also fits in well with the job profile in the renewed LTO Nederland, according to the stand organisation. This also applies to chairman Wim Thus (59) from Uden of the veal farming department and Henk Raaijmakers (59) from Deurne as chairman of the tree and perennial cultivation department.

The most suitable candidates
'The 3 gentlemen have applied again for the position of chairman. And also in view of the new job profiles, they remain the most suitable candidates for the departments', says Marc Calon. 'Is this innovative? Yes, we have re-examined all positions, but that doesn't mean that well-performing and suitable presidents can't stay, of course!'

The new face is Arie Kool (24) from Gorinchem, who takes over from Sjef Lavrijsen. Kool has been appointed as the new chairman of the rabbit farming department. Discussions with the other departments are still ongoing.
