Heavy showers in the Netherlands on Wednesday, but not in the hotspots of Zeeland, West Brabant, Central Brabant and Central Limburg.
In some places, as much rain fell in a short time as normally falls in June. It was especially wet in Friesland, Overijssel, Noordoostpolder and Eastern Flevoland. Locally even up to 70 millimeters. 67 millimeters fell in Heerde (Gelderland) and 64 millimeters in Grou (Friesland).
The normal precipitation level in June is 68 to 70 millimeters. Precipitation sums of more than 50 millimeters per day occur per place in our country on average once every 10 years and precipitation sums of 70 millimeters only once every 25 years.
Desperate farmer steals water
Particularly sour for farmers in Zeeland is that it remained virtually dry there on Wednesday, while it is very dry there, with a precipitation deficit of 210 millimeters. Other hotspots that had to do without rain are the west of North Brabant and the south of South Holland.
Belgium is also exceptionally dry. There stole one desperate farmer about 50.000 liters of rainwater from 6 wells. It will be showery on Thursday and a rain zone will move across the country on Saturday. However, this will not solve the precipitation deficit. In the Netherlands a similar weather picture with a chance of rain, especially in the weekend.
