The current CEO of McCain Foods, Dirk van de Put, will be appointed CEO of Mondelez effective November 1. This after Irene Rosenfeld previously announced her departure. The company will announce this on Wednesday, August 2.
Mondelez is the manufacturer of Milka, Toblerone and Oreo, among others. In recent years, the company has mainly focused on making healthier products, in order to keep up with the changing diet of the consumer. However, this has only led to declining turnover.
Mondelez in numbers
Weak demand for cookies, chewing gum and other items caused sales to drop 5% to $6 billion. Sales and profits have fallen consistently since Rosenfeld founded the renamed Mondelez in 2013. Last year, the company had a profit of $1,66 billion, which is more than half the profit compared to 2013.
The company is particularly pleased with Van de Put's experience in both developed and emerging markets. Since Van de Put became CEO of McCain, sales have increased by 50%.
Cyber attack shuts down business
The company suffered a cyber attack just before Rosenfeld's departure. As a result, Mondelez had problems with billing and shipping products. "The declining sales figures are partly due to that attack," Rosenfeld said.
