Consultation on crisis

Van Dam thinks about support for poultry companies

5 August 2017 - Danielle Ballast - 1 reaction

State Secretary Martijn van Dam says that he still wants to offer support to poultry farmers affected by the fipronil crisis. The damage is expected to run into millions of euros.

Van Dam previously stated that such a crisis is considered a business risk, meaning that poultry farmers did not have to count on government support. After consultation with the sector and with the NVWA, the State Secretary announced on Friday 4 August that he was still looking for solutions.

Sector just had the bird flu

The State Secretary emphasizes that the poultry farmers have been hit hard by this crisis, through no fault of their own. This while the sector has just had to deal with bird flu.

In the meantime, a criminal investigation is also underway into Chickfriend, the company that has treated poultry farmers against lice, and its Belgian supplier. The parties did not want to make any statements about this after the consultation on Friday 4 August.

Dear,
Should the mayonnaise, egg wafers, etc., in short, all products where contaminated eggs have ended up, not be removed from the shops? or is it legally too expensive and is it only to kill chicken farmers!!!!???
