Fipronil affair also reaches the United Kingdom

8 August 2017 - Bart-Jan van Zandwijk - 1 reaction

Eggs contaminated with fipronil have been found in the United Kingdom. The eggs come from the Netherlands. This is confirmed by the British Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority. However, there are hardly any risks to public health.

The British Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (Food Standards Agency) has confirmed that the number of eggs involved is relatively small. About 85% of the eggs consumed in the UK are produced by British poultry farmers themselves.

No danger
The contaminated eggs pose no danger to public health and can be eaten normally. The UK government has taken steps to include fipronil in their surveillance programmes. Poultry farmers concerned about their eggs should contact their veterinarian.

when will a politician stand up and say that moulting and culling is no longer necessary with immediate effect and that we can simply use the eggs in question, possibly diluted with "clean" eggs in, for example, the shampoo and that we can also simply use them in the rusk or the bread. what doesn't kill you in England doesn't kill you in the Netherlands either... why are the "animal friends" so quiet? I think they just prefer to be cleared / companies fall than to tell the truth ........?
