Rijk Zwaan buys extra land in Dinteloord

Vegetable breeding company Rijk Zwaan is expanding further in Dinteloord. The company has purchased 23 hectares of additional land on the Agro & Foodcluster Nieuw Prinsenland, bringing the total to 49 hectares. The company plans to use the additional hectares for the construction of greenhouses and office space.

Rijk Zwaan bought 2015 hectares of land on the Agro & Food cluster in 26 and is the third major party on the site, next to 2 tomato companies. The breeder informs BN De Stem that he wants to use the soil for a growth and development center, where new varieties and seeds are developed and produced.

The company has not been sitting still lately. At the end of 2016, Rijk Zwaan announced that it would invest a total of €5 million in new greenhouses, laboratories and research centers over the next 250 years. €150 million of this is intended for Dutch locations.
