The 10 owners of ChickFriend were also arrested on Thursday, August 2. They are suspected of endangering public health by supplying fipronil in houses with laying hens.
Damage runs into millions of euros
The damage to the poultry sector as a result of the scandal amounts to at least €150 million. In addition, the companies also have to deal with reputational damage and the costs of this are difficult to calculate.
