WDP, a Belgian specialist in logistics real estate, will install 100.000 extra solar panels in the Netherlands. This is because of the interesting subsidies, writes Sustainable Business based on an article in De Tijd.
With the investment, the company will increase its solar energy capacity in the Netherlands from 25 to 50 megawatt peak. The operation involves an investment of €25 million. All solar panels must be installed by the end of 2018.
Panels in Belgium and Romania
WDP has now installed solar panels in Belgium, the Netherlands and Romania, with an annual total income of €8,4 million. That is approximately 8% of all WDP's income. The total value of the installed solar panels is approximately €94 million.
As a logistics real estate manager, WDP is ideally suited for installing solar panels, as distribution centers generally have flat roofs.
Netherlands interesting
De Tijd states that WDP is targeting the Netherlands because the subsidies in the Netherlands are more interesting than in Belgium. In the longer term, WDP wants to increase the capacity in the Netherlands to 100 megawatt peak, good for the electricity supply of 25.000 families
