Even more data in the Boer&Bunder app

23 October 2017 - Niels van der Boom

The updated version of Boer&Bunder, a program with which you can view data on Dutch agricultural parcels, was launched by Dacom on Monday 23 October. For the first time, there is a paid version, which gives users a lot more data.

What Farmer&Bunder in the past mainly a nice 'gimmick', to see what kind of building plan the neighbor uses and how big a plot really is, now the program is taking a serious road. Crop-R, the company behind B&B, was acquired by Dacom in September 2016. They also took over from the agricultural espionage service. Version 2.0 was launched during the Dutch Design Week.

More dates available
It's not really spying. The company uses datasets from the government, which have been made publicly available by the government, which Dacom has in-house or which come from Alterra. New in Boer&Bunder 2.0 is a significant expansion of the data. In addition to the cultivation history, you can see at plot level what the soil types are, whether it concerns a groundwater protection area, a no-fly zone for drones, current satellite images, nature management and ownership of a plot. The data is not only displayed on a plot but, now also on a country level.

Paid environment
To recoup the investment costs, a subscription structure has now been introduced for the first time. For €150 per year you can follow the cultivation history from 2009. That has been reduced to 3 years in the free version. In addition, all satellite images are transparent, you can add 9 map layers, you have a search function and it is possible to make reports of fields and export them via PDF.

Application especially nice
Boer&Bunder remains especially fun to peek at the farmers. Still, there are plenty of useful applications. However, the number of participating companies is limited to a handful. There are also entrepreneurs who have difficulty with the detailed information. Especially now that there is a link with the Land Registry and the plots are directly linked to an owner.
