Making small business scheme attractive

7 November 2017 - Bart-Jan van Zandwijk

The VVD and the ChristenUnie want to extend the transitional law from 3 months to 1 year. In addition, they want to make the possibilities for the small business scheme more attractive to farmers. They discussed this in the House of Representatives on Monday 6 November.

The small business scheme may be of interest to farmers affected by the abolition of the agricultural exemption. In the forthcoming amendment to the scheme, the government must ensure that it becomes more attractive to farmers.

€22 million not going back to the sector

Money not back to sector
The money that comes from the VAT agricultural scheme does not go back to agriculture. That is what State Secretary of Finance Snel says. This concerns a total of €22 million.

The money is used for other purposes. For example, it would be used to fill the deficits of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The remaining funds will be used to cover the tax plan in 2018.

Several parties have demanded that this money be returned to the sector. Snel states, however, that the abolition has already been announced before, so entrepreneurs could already take this into account.
