'Bank is too hesitant'

Young farmers receive 75 million euros

1 December 2017 - Niels van der Boom - 4 comments

Carola Schouten, Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, is setting up a special fund to support young entrepreneurs in starting or taking over a company. "To let young entrepreneurs start or take over a company, a lot of money is needed." The pot is filled with €75 million.

"The required investments in land, stables, livestock and machines are enormous," said the agriculture minister in an interview with De Telegraaf. "Banks are too wary of the risks." Schouten hopes that starting entrepreneurs will choose to produce sustainably and that they consider innovation to be of paramount importance.

The fund will also be used to combat the vacancy of farms. The Minister of Agriculture thinks it is a real danger that drug gangs use these buildings. Therefore action is required.

Even now (young) farmers are labeled as welfare recipients, while countless advisers and coaches are now running away with it.

Very nice, but the whole swarm of advisors and companies that eat the sector are getting away with it!

It is swarming with know-it-alls who have nothing of their own!
