More clear at the beginning of 2018

Warm remediation still in the refrigerator

8 December 2017 - Bart-Jan van Zandwijk - 5 comments

There is still no clarity about the warm remediation of pig farming. There will be more clarity about this in early 2018. That is what Carola Schouten said on Thursday 7 December in the debate on the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV).

For the warm remediation of pig farming, in the coalition agreement €200 million has been made available from the Rutte III cabinet. Schouten says he cannot yet say definitively how the money will be used.

Fear of displacement
Coalition parties are afraid that pigs that disappear from the south of the Netherlands and return to another location. They are also afraid that the empty stables will be filled with goats, which makes it easier for Q fever to spread.

Schouten: "Prime Minister Rutte said earlier that it is not the intention for pigs to return to another place. But it is not yet clear exactly how we can prevent this. I want a sustainable, lasting solution in consultation with the municipalities. can already make use of it by taking a directive action."

Applying Vogelaar's proposal, a warmer remediation will take place than now being smoked out by the POV, which is only for the growers and not the one who has enough numbers or wants to stop.

does not cost the government any money, they would be better off using it to pay for the remediation of old barns
will sooner or later get rid of rights

Clearing will only take place when all dairy farms are land-bound.

Then it's no use to be a pov member for the smaller pig farmers just for the contribution

Simply use a graduated system of registration to remove phosphate rights from the market, then lay down definitive standards in law and switch to land-based livestock farms.

yes Jan are you right about why then still a member of such an organization that only focuses on the growers and wants to favor them compared to those who have sufficient numbers or want to remediate
I think they will have 1000 members left soon
