More agricultural transport

AB Transport Group continues with three colleagues

11 December 2017 - Niels van der Boom

The companies G. Bosman Transport, International Transport Company Van de Swaluw and Minnaard Transport will work closely with AB Transport Group. From 1 January 2018, these companies operate under the AB flag. The 3 parties are all active in agricultural transport.

The reason for the merger is the fact that the Texel-based AB Transport Group wants to serve customers more widely in the field of bulk agricultural products. For this purpose, from 1 January 2018, it will acquire a majority interest in G. Bosman Transport from Nisse. From next year, the 3 parties will continue together.

Transport more bulk agricultural product

Wider range of bulk product
AB is mainly big in the transport of potatoes. With the acquisition of Bosman, the package will be expanded to also transport other bulk products in Western Europe. Bosman transports vegetables, grass, sugar beets, grains and fertilizers, among other things. The acquisitions of Minnaard and Van de Swaluw enable the company to further expand its network. Minnaard and Van de Swaluw are specialized in pallet transport and conditioned transport.

Separate company
A separate company will be set up by AB for the 3 companies. It operates under the name G. Bosman Transport. This includes all bulk transport. The daily management is in the hands of Wim Minnaard and Wiebe Bosman. Bosman has a fleet of 65 trucks and trailers. In addition, 45 combinations from Minnaard and 25 trucks from Van de Swaluw. AB Transport Group has a fleet of 1.000 trucks and 1.500 trailers.

Growth ambition
"With this expansion, we can serve our customers more broadly", says Dennis Wetenkamp, director of AB Transport Group. "The expansion is in line with our ambition to become the most valued logistics service provider in the agricultural sector."

In June 2015, AB took over colleague Butter. In January 2016 it was decided to let the companies AB Texel, Butter and A-ware continue under the name AB Agri Transport. This was followed by a takeover of seed potato transporter DML and in April of this year the transport activities of Landjuweel.
