Arable farmers are venturing onto the land again

9 January 2018 - Niels van der Boom

While a few ventured on thin ice this morning, the first arable farmers have also started again in the country. The clay soil in particular has set up sufficiently to allow processing. The harvesting of sugar beets is also not over yet.

On Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 January, arable farmers picked up the thread again. There is still quite a bit of tillage to be done, such as plowing and spading. In addition, the harvest is not yet fully completed. For example, a small part of the sugar beet still has to be harvested.

Frost disappears
Farmers should not expect much more frost. According to DCA Agroweer, the mercury will drop to -1 degrees Celsius on Tuesday night, after which it will bounce back slightly. However, it remains relatively dry. More precipitation is expected for next week, however.
